If you’re looking to surf year round, you’ll probably be needing a wetsuit to get you through much of the year. Depending on where you live, you might need wetsuits of varying thicknesses.
Definitely look for wetsuits that are made by surf brands, since these will be designed for the repetetive movements of surfing and will be less likely to cause rashes in the shoulders.
Try on a variety of wetsuits to find the best fit. A wetsuit should be snug, not loose. You want to be able to move around and not feel constrained. Each wetsuit manufacturer uses a slightly different model and has a little different fit, so make sure you set aside a bit of time to try them on.
Once you find a good wetsuit, take good care of it by rinsing it out and hanging it to dry after each session. It will last much longer that way.
