Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the martial arts that’s exploding for adults. The world was first introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (or BJJ for short) when Royce Gracie brought it to the ring in the early days of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which was the precursor to today’s mixed martial arts competitions.

At the time, Royce weighed 170 to 180 pounds and was able to dominate martial artists from many backgrounds, including boxing, kickboxing, savate, wrestling, and more. The style of BJJ makes this type of performance possible, due tot he fact that BJJ pits strengths against weaknesses, for example, legs against arms.

It’s easiest to see it than to read about it, so looking at some gi videos (the official BJJ uniform) is a good way to see what it has to offer.
