My first Krugerrand gold bullion coins I purchased on impulse in 1980. It would turn out to become one of the best impulses I have ever had. As of 2009 last year, I started buying gold and silver again, and those Krugerrands that I got for less than $300 now were worth about four times as much.
I had no idea that gold would sky-rocket as it had when i first bought about 100 Krugerrands in 1980. I haven’t bought much gold since then but now those 100 Krugerrands are worth in excess of $124,000! Not a bad investment if you ask me.
I don’t know any investment that does as well as precious metals over this length of time. Well, I suppose maybe Microsoft stock, but, hey how often do new Microsoft type companies sprout?
Regardless, the Krugerrand is still one of the best investments if you’re considering coins, as its still the world leader in the bullion coin market, second to the maple and gold eagle.
