At one point, my husband and I considered buying an investment property. We had never before considered this as a way to make money, but if we could find a home priced reasonably enough that needed only basic repairs, we could probably have it ready to rent within six months or so. We searched and searched until we finally found a home that had belonged to an older couple. It sat on a beautiful half-acre lot outside of town, so we knew it would be appealing to a great many individuals. We set about fixing it, and within a week of putting the “For Rent” sign in the front yard, we had new tenants moving in!
