If there is one thing that I feel every good guitar player needs to know, it’s the ability to play scales as well as chords and notes. When I was learning the major blues scale it dawned on me just how important this particular scale was in the music I played. As a solo player I could make riffs that would compliment any type of music I was playing. It is not only used for blues, and jazz, but also good old rock and roll. When I am playing chords and need a little riff to go along with it the blues scale helps. I can add it any where I like.
